Please don't tell me that you are surprised to see that Thomas used his position on the court corruptly.  Now you can quibble about the details, but Thomas' actions show an overriding disregard for how important the APPEARANCE of impartiality to what formerly made the Supreme Court such a respected and special institution.  Sadly I just had to use the word "formally."  There was so much respect lost for the court with the corruption of the appointment process by the GOP.  But to know that besides a having a wife that advocated for the overthrow of the government, Thomas himself has been proven devoid of respect for the sanctity of the court sadly is not a surprise.

Anita Hill tried to tell us...

I'm ok if a justice, politician, etc. allows someone to buy them a trip or invites them along for a vacation. But it should be 100% reported according to the rules. And maybe these rules are actually laws.

If this was a liberal justice, we would be hearing impeachment calls from the GOP today.  Instead I imagine that when asked, people like Ted Cruz will just refuse to comment because they haven't read the story. And they won't allow a reporter to tell them the details.

Thomas should be hauled into a Senate inquiry and forced to testify about all gifts and trips that he's never reported. The judicial branch doesn't get a pass from oversight just because they have a lifetime appointment. If he refuses, there are limitations to what the Senate could do about it.

Meidas Touch has a nice video summarizing it all.

Thomas is so stupid he did not report anything at all, for years, as required by law (see video thumbnail).  He is like the waiter or waitress who reports no tips.  Not sure how much teeth the penalty for not reporting has. Knowing our government they will just let him amend the previous reports. There is no way the Republicans will impeach him and reduce their advantage in the court to 5-4, and dude has no shame, so he will not resign. Be interesting so see what the other justices report each year.

Good work Simulation. Gotta pad the episode count a bit. Kid's genital searches, tenn senator Jim Crowing and our favorite recurring character here now acting full time like a R politician. Can't beat it. Where is Anita Hill when you need her eh?

sorry...no spoilers!

Lol, NBC reported this about the Trump judge the same day as Thomas shit dropped.

Let's not forget that Thomas was a Bush 1 nominee. The same Bush who said: "I will not apologize for America. I don't care what the facts are." He said this on the 1988 campaign tour and was elected in a landslide. No surprise, the same Bush whose son who authorized an invasion of Iraq based on no facts. Like father, like son.

It is no surprise that MAGA-GQP are anti-facts, anti-science, etc. The Bushes (along with Reagan) laid the foundation decades ago.

I'm not sure advocacy groups like AEI and CCI that aren't actual parties, count.  To put it simply, Crow's a fascist, these are fascist advocacy groups, and Thomas is a fascist.  They don't really need to buy his vote.

Greasing the wheels keeps the machine running smoothly. I’ll bet if we looked into any evolution Thomas has had in his legal opinions over the years, we’d find they’ve generally moved in a direction aligned with those of his benefactors.

“I don’t have any problem with going to Europe, but I prefer the United States, and I prefer seeing the regular parts of the United States. … I prefer the RV parks. I prefer the Walmart parking lots to the beaches and things like that. There’s something normal to me about it.”

— Justice Clarence Thomas, speaking in a documentary about his life, quoted in a ProPublica report released Thursday that Thomas has accepted undisclosed luxury trips from a prominent Republican donor, including travel by yacht and private jet, for more than two decades.

Please keep in mind, my fellow Americans, that each moment I spent on the yacht was torment! That is why I did not disclose it. It was not my idea of a vacation. Every second I spent on those magnificent islands, in those bucolic retreats, eating meals cooked by private chefs, I was seething internally, wishing I were in a Walmart parking lot.

“Is everything to your liking?” numerous solicitous waitstaff aboard the yacht asked, and I sighed, dropping my cigar butt into the provided ashtray with a heavy heart. “No,” I said. “This — ” here I indicated the blue sky, the balmy sea breeze — “is not my idea of a good time, for I am a man of the people, with the tastes of the people, and I wish I were pursuing amusement as they do, by driving to Walmart on the weekend to make memories.”

A tear came to my eye as I spoke, for I could picture them so clearly, the happy weekenders, the salts of the earth who flocked to Walmart parking lots for their entertainment. Their children in the back seats, clamoring, “Walmart! Walmart! Walmart!” Their wrinkled elders, saving their pennies so that they could arrive at that cherished destination. Those parking lots are so full, always, and that is surely because they are a magnet for Americans who want to enjoy themselves.

Well, that describes me. I am not above anyone, except in the slight technical sense that I do control what rights you get to have. But you need not worry: I understand you and I am not contemptuously pandering to you: I genuinely think that you drive to Walmart for the delight of it! The simple joy of moving the carts around and putting them back, stopping at the little stop sign, and yelling indistinctly at your children not to run in front of other people’s cars! A classic American vacation!

The only reason to circumvent disclosure requirements for the "gifts" that he received is because he KNEW it looks bad. And, as a judge, particularly a Supreme Court Justice, if you know it looks bad, then it IS bad.

Who is going to pressure him?  Like he gives a flying fuck what anyone thinks of him, his wife, or his business.

Now, if there was a R in the White House, then maybe the thought is entertained.   But as long as Uncle Joe is residing there, and the D's control the Senate?  No fucking chance.

I read something written by a formal law clerk that said something to the effect that Thomas says frequently that the liberals made his life miserable at his confirmation and that he was going to do the same to them as long as he is on the court.  I guarantee he does not give one fuck about this story and is not worried about it in the least.

They won’t because they’re cowards, but the Biden administration should immediately release a statement that says this ruling is clearly bullshit and an abuse of power and that they will ignore it.

And what does the judge know in favor of the FDA.  Medical wise. Literally thousands of these approvals by FDA have been fine, but now this judge has an better idea?  Help me, law dogs.
