#BREAKING: Over dissents from the three Democratic appointees, #SCOTUS grants a stay in the third-country removals case; clears way for Trump admin. to continue removing non-citizens without a full chance to litigate the conditions in those countries (while also taking up the full merits appeal).

By my math, the order was filed 11 minutes after the Trump administration's reply brief came in.

Daily Beast Conservative justice's daughter outs herself as secret liberal

Chief Justice John Roberts has a dissenting opinion in his very own home: his daughter’s.

Josephine Roberts, the 26-year-old daughter of the George W. Bush-appointed Supreme Court justice, has said she held liberal views, according to a report from The New York Times.

In recent years, the 71-year-old’s lavish island home off Port Clyde, Maine, has often been surrounded by protesters in kayaks, who have dubbed themselves “kayak-tivisits.”

During one such incident in August 2025, the kayakers were confronted by Josephine, who asked them what they hoped to accomplish, according to the Times.

She then told them that her father respects her own left-leaning political views, adding that he was a “wonderful” father, kayakers recalled to the Times.

In some cases, her father has lobbied for the liberal views she may hold, such as his failed bid to uphold Roe v. Wade before the court he presides over struck it down in 2022—effectively ending abortion access for roughly 40 million women and girls in nearly two dozen states across the country.

A Supreme Court spokesperson did not respond to a request for comment from the Daily Beast.

Oh well then, I guess he’s ok.

I don't think I'll ever understand how these "Justices" can abide the deportation of people to shit hole despotic countries with which they have no connection. Then to watch young, unaccompanied children being exposed to the vagaries of an immigration process they helped facilitate is inhumane.

Just assume they’re part of the Epstein class and are part of the trafficking of children

Just don't look at them as people.

President Trump revealed in an interview published Thursday that he regrets nominating conservative Justices Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court.

“Yeah. Yeah. What can I do? I put them in,” Trump told Time magazine when asked whether he regretted nominating the three justices to the high court.

“They voted against me too often,” the president continued. “I gave them the position of a lifetime, and they vote against me often. They vote for me too.”

It's quite a conundrum. It is actually statutorily authorized, and required by treaty, to deport people with claims of torture or abuse in their home country to another country that will accept them. It's not supposed to be punitive, though.

England, probably under Johnson or some other shitheel, had a program to deport people to fucking Rwanda.

Friends of the chief justice have shared that he is increasingly isolated as it becomes harder and harder for him to ignore the backlash to his court's rulings.
Chief Justice’s Island Escape Turns Into a Nightmare
John Roberts’ presence at a peaceful coastal retreat is becoming increasingly fraught.

Sarcasm?

320k is enough for a full time, mortgage paying resident of Chevy Chase Maryland to also buy a low-end city view beach condo in Corpus Christi, if they live extremely modestly and rent out the condo. 320k is not enough for a vacation home otherwise, let alone 4 acre waterfront compound with a main house and guest cottage on Hupper Island Maine?

Look, John Roberts is a very successful individual investor and has built a portfolio worth probably $35-50mm by aggressively investing his private income prior to government service and his wife’s income. Good for them- I think there’s some considerable distance between simply existing as part of a successful power couple and a conflict, and even more from there to corruption as such.

My problem with Roberts is the same thing it has been since he was nominated: he seems to approach his role as an advocate of certain interests, and rules as an activist. I think he comes by it honestly, but he simply isn’t suited for the bench. It would be like asking Aaron Boone to ump a Yankee game.

The article just said he had a summer house purchased in Maine in 2006. As a general matter, I don't think that is out of the range of possible for someone making that level of money over the course of a career. I know plenty of people with similar income that can afford a fairly nice, and certainly better than "low-end" Corpus Christi Condo, vacation home.

Sure, if they were making real money and investing it for the last 30 years, but there is no person without cash flowing or marginable assets who can afford to carry a Mortgage in Chevy Chase Maryland and also buy a nice vacation house on $320k/yr without exotic financing and also using it to produce income. Even that backside condo in corpus would be a huge stretch. The very cheapest single family homes in a Chevy Chase are $1mm++ (not the $5m house Roberts lives in). That’s the top of the range at $320k.

Roberts is wealthy and prior to his current gig we was making a hell of a lot more than $320 and his wife still does. There’s nothing wrong with that. But he didn’t buy his current house, his last house, the original vacation home or the cottage next door on his salary. And in the year of our lord 2026 it’s a shitload more difficult to build wealth or acquire property than it used to be.

roberts owning that a decent vacation house, when we have no idea about the cost, or how long he or his family has had it, or whether he or his wife funded it, or whatever, raises zero red flags. get real, guys.

It’s far better than decent, as is his main house, and we do know how much both cost and we do know how he funded them: his wife and himself are successful investors, and that’s that.

His career is the issue.

If I were sworn in as President after the Trump admin, my second directive, after having Trump arrested and entire family assets seized, would be to send in the NG to SCOTIS and remove all of the conservative justices.
