I know...I laughed typing that out and thinking about that coward trying to muster the courage to admit he’s a Texags dolt.

When Barron's is explaining how dumb you are as a Republican President you know it's bad.  Figured I'd give this a bump before the markets retreat Monday on the news that Mnuchin and Kudlow both stated the President could indeed order US businesses not to do business with China via his "emergency powers."  The Barron's article already needs revision because it states that thre is not much the President can do about his "twitter order" and today the top financial cabinet level advisors state that the President absolutely has the powers to tell US businesses who they can invest with, trade with, and do business with.

The Dow Plunged 623 Points Because Trump Spooked the Market Right After Powell Soothed It

Uncertainty is the enemy of investment and long term investment/ decision making, because how the fuck can you make a decision... with Trump and twitter?  I am curious to see how the markets react to the knowledge that unless they comply to the dear leaders musings, the dear leader does indeed have the ability to destroy their business models.

Is this the “picking winners and losers” bit the Republicans used to screech about when Obama was president?

No, it’s totally different. See, when a black guy does it, he’s both in over his head and a socialist. When a white guy does it, he’s making America great again.
I thought you got that memo?

The easy fix is for all the businesses to respond the same way administration officials respond to House subpoenas... ignore dotard’s stupid ass rules.

Trumps gonna start to lose some suburban men when they fully realize how much their 401ks have dropped. They won’t care how much the balance has risen under trump but rather how much it’s dropped over a past quarter or so.

over the past decade, the average 401k saver has become conditioned to continued growth. Dropping 5, 15, 25 or whatever percent isn’t going to play well in The Woodlands. Perhaps it won’t get them to vote for Warren but it could keep some of them home on Election Day. The Texas GOP needs suburban men in large counties to run up the score too offset urban counties.

You know it's bad when the President of the United States PRETENDS he received from China at the G7.  I guess the national will only be in trouble to Republican when it's clear that their policies have moved the car far enough into the ditch that they are certain they are going to lose their offices.  It still blows my mind, that the President felt so weak he felt he needed to make something up to pretend he was making some sort of progress on his trade war with China. Trump is scared shitless, and all he can do now to save himself is make a shitty deal and proclaim it a great deal... and farmers will go bankrupt in greater and greater numbers the next few years in the Midwest as a direct result of this dumbassery.

NORTH DAKOTA FARMER SAYS IF TRUMP 'DOESN'T LOSE 100 PERCENT' OF HIS FARM-BELT SUPPORT OVER TRADE WAR 'PEOPLE ARE KIND OF CRAZY

-- Donald Trump's trade war with China is hemorrhaging support from his rural base which helped put him into the White House, farmers hit financially by his policies have warned.

Last week, the National Farmers Union said that Trump was making things "worse, not better" by escalating tariffs on China, adding in a statement that, ″instead of looking to solve existing problems in our agricultural sector, this administration has just created new ones."

Bob Kuylen, a wheat and sunflower farmer from South Heart, North Dakota, says he has endured a tough time since Trump came into office, including losses of up to $400,000.

He told CNN that he had sold a lot of grain last year at harvest for $5.70 a bushel, which was already at a loss, but since then the market has slumped to only $3.96 a bushel locally.

A farmer of 40 years' standing, Kuylen did not vote for Trump in the last election. He said that those in the farm-belt who did back Trump in 2016 would be foolish to do so in 2020.

"If he doesn't lose 100 percent of it from the farm belt then people are kind of crazy because this is not going well for farmers at all," he told CNN host Don Lemon (via Grabien.)

"I mean, some of them are trying to be faithful, they made that decision and voted for him but I would have to say in the back of their minds they are just not very happy right now."

He criticized Trump for "taking all our markets away from us" and that "it's kind of like telling all of America to throw away all it its 401(k) [plans]."

Even if normal trade resumed tomorrow, "it is going to take a lot of years to get our markets back," he added.

Last week, Blake Hurst, a soybean farmer and president of the Missouri Farm Bureau said that farmers are "willing to be patient" on the trade spat because they "don't like the way China acts in international markets."

However, he told Yahoo Finance that for many in the industry with a "more leveraged balance sheet, a lot of that patience is beginning to go away. So I think there's going to be some challenges for the Trump administration come election time if we don't see a turnaround in these trade markets."

Earlier in August, Ohio soybean farmer Christopher Gribbs said the trade spat meant he would not vote for Trump again. He told CNBC: "I was a Trump voter. I voted for the president but he certainly hasn't come through. He has lost on trade."

Your estimate looks to be correct.... plus or minus 5 votes.

They ain't budging.  They committed to a cult. To change your vote is to admit you are wrong.  And humans really hate to admit they were wrong.  An insignificant number of votes will change.  The remainder will rationalize that it's really the fault of the Dems, and probably all those illegals.

This is right on brand for the R party.  It's a party for the wealthy.  They've lived on for decades by getting voters to vote against their own interests.  Poor blue collar folks vote for the uber wealthy (and against their own wallets) constantly to 'save babies'.  Same song, different verse.  These people want and even need to be fucked over.  Enjoy, assholes.

There isn't a way to combat it.

The reality of the GOP is horrific.  So, they've convinced themselves that the fantasy of what the Democrats WOULD do is even worse.  It's the only way for them to stay sane.

China's been screwing the US over for decades, and we had to pull the bandaid off at some point. I sure don't trust the Ds to do that. I'm sticking with Trump.

I mean didn’t trump take on the NFL with his USFL lawsuit venture? How did that one turn out? Didn’t he win a dollar with some interest tacked on?

I hear that people are saying that trump ran some casinos too. Hard to lose money with a casino right? How did that one turn out?

What mystifies me is how they can't see that all the horror stories they were told about what would happen if Barack Hussein Obama won the presidency turned out to be wrong.

What a Patriot Farmer would say. Sarcasm.

It's classic Trump, though.  Take a tiny particle of truth -- "China has been screwing us over" -- and use that particle to do the stupidest, most preposterous thing anyone can think of that can be connected to that truth in the most gossamer, attenuated way.

Trump's approach to China is like burning your house to the ground because it needs some energy efficient windows installed.

Yes, technically one could argue that you're at least addressing the problem. Unfortunately, you're doing so in the stupidest way possible.

Right now they're sowing soybeans and wheat at a loss. Next year will probably be even worse. If that doesn't influence some to either stay home or switch their vote they deserve anything that comes their way financially.

Wonder how many in the audience of those laughing at the joke about farmers in the "whine cellar" are receiving some of Trump's $16 Billion for casualties of his tariffs ?

And this quote from the article I linked:

Quote

"I mean, some of them are trying to be faithful, they made that decision and voted for him but I would have to say in the back of their minds they are just not very happy right now."

He criticized Trump for "taking all our markets away from us" and that "it's kind of like telling all of America to throw away all it its 401(k) [plans]."

Even if normal trade resumed tomorrow, "it is going to take a lot of years to get our markets back," he added.

This looks like a Trump setup to manufacture and capture a welfare state farm vote.  Use ill-conceived tariffs to fork over markets of your domestic farmers to Vlad's farmers, use tax dollars to help them keep the lights on,  then plant the threat that their government sustenance will disappear if Trump loses.  Never mind that Vlad won't be giving their markets back when Trump fucks them anyway.
