you responded to someone saying Sims only had 3 shots, I responded to you

I don't even know what the fuck you are saying.

I don't know what my wife is saying, either, but she looks better.  Off to bed.

Are you fucking kidding?  Our entire game plan should have been a) Coleman/Ramey driving hard; b) pounding inside to Sims; and c) kicking outside for open 3s. Sims is a tremendous athlete not just defensively but one that was woefully underutilized by Shaka’s “half court offense”.

Sims should have dominated this game, he played small, he also makes lazy fucking passes out of the post all the time after he plays small, he's just not that good but he stayed 4 years, kudos for the young man doing that.

I would switch our coach with ACU coach right now. No questions asked.

I would switch our coach for a fucking bag of mildewed sea weed right about now.

And I'd consider it a bargain.

Greg Brown went from “I’m going to Duke if Shaka gets fired” to playing six minutes in his 1 tournament appearance.

I still don't understand how you only give GB3 6 min regardless of how he's been playing lately or the off the court issues.

Off topic but when do you think @greggym is gonna come in here and shit on you while praising Shaka and telling us how it’s really about the experience, not the results?

lol. probably after we win game 1 next year vs Western Carolina Tech State by a score of 56-55.

At least he got 6 minutes.

I don't think anyone is saying our senior big man who isn't likely to make waves in the NBA should have had a triple double.  I do think it's reasonable to expect our genius young coach to exploit his advantages, along with those of Kai Jones and Greg Brown.  Maybe I'm nuts.

Either play him or don’t though. Don’t put him out there to hit a 3 then sit him the rest of the night when you’re getting killed on the boards. Makes zero fucking sense.

Ramey has a lot of qualities that could've been maximized by a real coach.

well sure a real coach would make him better but he's just not very good.  he's not awful. I didn't say he shouldn't be playing at Texas, I'm saying he's 7th or 8th guy in your rotation, not a starter or high minute guy.

Yes he’s a good coach, but this isn’t a BRAD STEVENS OR BUST thing. There are plenty of coaches out there that are great X and O guys out there that aren’t scumbags

At least Cornwallis was opposed by Washington with heavy French support.

We surrendered to ACU.

He wouldn’t have done shit. He’s regressed since HS. That’s how bad Shaka is. He would’ve camped out on the perimeter waiting for his 35% chance of hitting a 3. He became utterly useless down the stretch for Shaka. Largely because Shaka did nothing with him.

That's not true at all.  Texas could have run ACU out of the gym.  We chose not to.

Do coaches who are succeeding at a school with a better program tend to leave for a school with a worse program?

Asking for a friend.

And of course he'll leave while Shaka goes on.

Hope we learned a lesson.

We would’ve been killed on the boards regardless because of the way Shaka plays his big men. Based on your Ramey comment I wouldn’t expect you to know that. Greg Brown getting more minutes would’ve made zero difference.

Yeah, we definitely couldn’t have used his 6.5 rebounds a game.

He recruits well, he's considered to be an A+ representative of any university he coaches for, and plenty of programs have lower expectations than we do.

Yes we could have. With either a) cleaner guard play - entirely on the guards but probably due to their long term coaching or b) teaching our first round draft pick talents how to slash or play with their back to the baskets.

On b), I saw no evidence that Brown had been coached how to effectively do this. Rather, all fucking season, I saw Shaka encourage Brown to sit back and launch 3s, killing his draft stock and making Shaka look worse than Barnes with Durant.

But you keep believing in fantasies.

I'm not remotely arguing that Greg Brown has been optimized, but for fuck's sake, he wasn't even used in his normal capacity tonight.

When any coach looks over at ACU and thinks anything but "holy shit I am going to relentlessly pound the ball inside" they should be fired.  Greg Brown can get to the basket.  Well, he can get to the basket when he's not sitting on the bench.  This isn't fucking rocket science.

Here are Indiana's next coach betting odds, I don't think Shaka comes close to the cut there, maybe the other two. Would also just say I think Altman would be a killer hire for us if we're throwing names out there since nobody has mentioned him.

He also averaged 21 minutes a game. Did the guys that got those minutes tonight give us 10 points and 6 boards? No fucking chance.

I get this line of thinking if we are playing Baylor or tech or even UCLA. But against ACU, no fucking way I see this point.

What?  I never said he played with his back to the basket, but if you think he can't get to the basket then you and I have very different definitions of the term.  He could have dunked on those toadstools at least 5 times tonight had that been in the game plan.

He can't get to the basket because every team sat on his left hand and he never adjusted to having to actually go right

When has Greg Brown slashing to the rim ever been a part of any Shaka game plan?

Pretty much never?  It doesn't mean he is incapable of doing it, and often, especially against inferior athletes.  I mean, he's a human highlight reel.  There's a subtlety to my argument, though:  he has to be on the court

I’d give my left nut for Pitino. Anyone on this board should. He would win a national title and possibly multiple before he retired.

It depends on how much we’re willing to invest in an escort budget.

An alternative is we could keep Shaka and not flirt with proven winners who’ve been dirty in the past. I’ll admit, Pitino is a hero of mine and has been for a while. We ran the Pitino Press at Westlake with great success. He’s proven to be a fucking dirtbag and hurts my argument, no doubt. But the man is a god, and taught Billy everything he knows.

At least with Shaka we know what we have. So there's that.

Matt Coleman, a HS All American, a FIBA gold medal winner, a senior, and Shaka's prized recruit, the one who would lead us to the promised land, just completely hacked the ACU guy (while jumping into him) with one second left in his final college game during the NCAA Tournament. if that doesn't sum up the typical IQ of a Shaka Smart team then I don't know what does.
